In this interview we speak with Sunil Gupta MBE a London based photographer, curator, and activist whose work spans over four decades, exploring themes of race, migration, and queer identity.
Born in India and raised in Canada, his practice is deeply shaped his diasporic experience. A founding member of the Association of Black Photographers, Sunil has consistently used photography as a form of cultural activism, challenging silence, invisibility and marginalisation.
His work, held in major international collections, foregrounds the politics of representation while centring intimate human relationships, positioning him as a vital voice in both contemporary art and LGBTQ+ histories.
