This heat map shows the location of initiatives run across England as part of the Ageing Better, Age-friendly Communities and Celebrating Age schemes.

Using the map

Click the image below to access the interactive map.

The map is divided into local authorities, the darker the colour of an area, the more initiatives are taking place there. Hover over an area to find its name and the number of initiatives within it.

The red dots pinpoint the individual initiatives, hover over them to find the name of a project or place and the scheme that it’s part of.

The search bar allows you to find any project or area on the map.

About the schemes

Age-friendly Communities – a UK network of over 40 cities, towns, boroughs, districts, counties and city regions working together to share learning and promote age-friendly practices.

Celebrating Age (2017-2020) – an Arts Council fund supporting cultural spaces and other organisations to be open, positive and welcoming places for older people; and taking high quality arts and culture into places where older people will find it easier to engage.
